The Ideal Horizons – SSWE-6 UV Light Bulb For Germicidal Water Treatment is a 16 watts UV bulb that gives you a worry-free performance for an entire year. The four pin lamp bulb has an average lifespan of 10,000 hours after which the 330mm lamp length bulb must be replaced. The lamp makes use of UV-C light to inactivate and kill bacteria, molds, virus and protozoa present in water and the fixture has a long lifespan and low mercury dosage to help the environment.
The light bulb has a peak output of 254nm. This energy reacts photo-chemically with the genetics of the microorganisms and prevents them from reproducing. Studies show that UV water purification has the ability to destroy 99.9% of waterborne microorganisms. This method of sterilizing water is a purely physical process and does not alter the pH, taste or chemistry of water and is a much better option than chemicals and their byproducts.
The germicidal water treatment bulb comes with a shatterproof coating that protects the lamp during damage. The coating also keeps the lamp glass from falling into the unit.
