Studies show that germicidal light bulbs emit ultraviolet rays at short wavelengths and this enables through disinfection by the process of microorganism destruction. When ultraviolet rays passes through the body of the microorganism it alters their DNA and makes them harmless. With a total length of 11.8 inches, the replacement UVC light bulb has a peak UV output of 253.7nm that helps in reacting with the genetics of microorganisms such as spores, virus, bacteria and other pathogens. It is vital to maintain the hygiene of the water we drink. Insufficient disinfection of water may lead to health hazards. Based on the length and wavelength, the UVC light bulb can kill around 99.9% waterborne microorganisms. UV is a friendly alternative to chlorine disinfection and unlike chemicals does not change the pH, chemistry or taste of water as UVC filtration is a purely physical process.
