The Watts Hydro-Safe HSUV-SS-M-24 Water Treatment Germicidal UV Light Bulb is a four pin, single ended light bulb that can give you a worry-free performance for an entire year. The ceramic light bulb has an average lifespan of 10,000 hours after which it must be replaced for better performance of the system.
The genetic material of the microorganism is deactivated when germicidal UV light passes through them and makes them incapable of multiplying. Researchers are of the opinion that this method of sterilizing water is a purely physical process. It does not affect the chemistry, pH or taste of water in the process and is a much better option to chemicals and their bi-products.
The germicidal water treatment bulb comes with a shatterproof coating that protects the lamp during damage. The coating also keeps the lamp glass from falling into the unit.
